Hello from Oakland, California! We are Trevor and Alex. We feel so happy to be considered as loving parents for your new baby. We look forward to meeting you and sharing more about our diverse family. Alex is from Germany, and Trevor is from Vietnam. We love to travel and want to share our worldly experiences with our kids. We envision our family enjoying summers playing on the beaches of Hawaii, and sipping hot cider while wandering the Christmas markets in Germany. Our kids will qualify for dual U.S.-German citizenship, and a free college education with the G.I. Bill!

We are truly excited to invite and welcome your baby to be part of our world — a wondrous place filled with love and laughter. We have a dream that we hope will come true: a big family with a gaggle of kids and grandkids. We both come from multi-cultural backgrounds, so we want to share our love of learning and travel — experiencing a whole new world, a hundred-thousand things to see, wonder by wonder. As parents, we are ready to patiently help our kids enjoy a happy childhood and to show that they matter, while fully embracing kindness and empathy towards others.

We met as college sweethearts at UC Berkeley and will celebrate 20 years together in 2025. Alex is a director of government affairs helping his company build relationships in local communities. Trevor is a U.S. Navy officer and veteran who deployed to Afghanistan. As a couple, we are polar opposites. Yet, we balance each other very well! Perfect yin-and-yang energy. We laugh at each other’s silly jokes, tease each other just for giggles, and travel everywhere together far and wide — 15 countries and counting! We hope our kids will laugh at our dad jokes, while experiencing a safe space to develop their own unique personalities. As a multicultural family, we love tasty foods, eating at fun restaurants, going on outings in nature, and seeking new adventures.

Alex was born and raised in Europe to a German mom and an African-American dad. His family greatly enjoyed traveling and by the time Alex moved to San Diego as a 16 year old, he visited almost every country in Europe. His mom and extended family enjoyed hosting friends, so Alex grew up surrounded by lots of friends coming together for fun gatherings and celebrations. This childhood experience turned him into a total extrovert. Though, he does enjoy his alone time cuddled up with Noodles and Trevor on the couch reading a good book. Reading was one of the passion he shared with his mom and something they bonded over. Alex tries to read a new book every week (Trevor makes fun of him for not always finishing every book he picks-up). Alex is looking forward to continuing this family tradition and read books with his kids. He already has a selection of books waiting to be shared.

Alex is a worldly and multicultural gentleman. He is biracial half-Black and half-German, growing up in Hamburg until moving to California at 16 as an exchange student. He is bilingual and hopes to share his German heritage, holidays, festivities and food with our kids. Second, Alex loves to travel and has a wonderful zest for adventure. He traveled all over Europe and still maintains dual U.S.-German citizenship. Alex dreams of spending summers abroad with our kids — boat rides on Alster Lake in his hometown Hamburg, eating spaghetti ice, and enjoying historic sites. At home, Alex is an incredibly kind, patient, and easy-going man. He enjoys taking our dog Noodles for long walks in the park, entertain our friends and family, or just read one of his many books. For dinner, Alex loves to try out his family recipes, his mom’s famous cucumber salad, and even bake a whole fish.

Trevor loves laughing out loud watching stand-up comedy shows, lounging at the beach, and giggling at jokes with (...or of...) Alex. He is most definitely a shy introvert who prefers quiet evenings enjoying a cozy dinner with family, watching Netflix rom-coms on the couch, and playing fetch with our dog Noodles. Born in the countryside of Vietnam, Trevor grew up poor playing among the rice paddies and walking miles to school on a dirt road. He immigrated to California at 8 years old, and went on to graduate from Oxford University (England), finish law school, and join the U.S. Navy as an officer. He is a decorated Afghan War veteran. Trevor feels so grateful for the many blessings in life. He cannot wait to be a loving and understanding father who is a infinite source of unconditional love, strength, and fortitude.

Trevor is the most kind, caring, loyal, and loving person you will ever meet. With everything he does, he puts family first and has become an essential mentor to his many nieces and nephews. An educator at heart, Trevor loves interacting with the next generation and ensuring that others have the same opportunities in life that he did. His passion for knowledge and ability to explain even the most complex concepts, will make him a great parent to our kids. He will find a way to make even the most stressful amount of homework fun and exciting. At home, Trevor’s loving and creative side gets to shine. He enjoys decorating all of our rooms, create new art through painting and calligraphy, and trying out new home-made kombucha flavors and sourdough breads. His kids will definitely have every opportunity to try out exciting things and to discover something new every day.

He is such a unique cat — very calm, cool, and confident. Unlike other cats who are shy and hide, our baby Ramen is the life of the party. He will walk up to everyone to say hello, lay in the middle of the room, and does his own thing.

Yes, together with his cat brother, they are both “Ramen Noodles.” Noodles is a mix Havanese+Poodle, so he is super fluffy and friendly. He loves to say hello to everyone — literally, everyone. He also has an extroverted personality like Alex and Ramen, and cuddles up next to Trevor.

Alex has a large family network all over the world — California, Virginia, and Germany. His step-father and sister’s family are closest in San Diego. We visit frequently to celebrate German holidays, family traditions, and enjoy the mellow San Diego beach vibe. Next, our dearest and loveliest Aunt Bine and Uncle Bob are in Virginia. We love visiting for family reunions in their historic old-town Alexandria, rich with its colonial American history.

Trevor’s hometown and family is nearby just 40 minutes away in Milpitas, California. It is our second-home, as we are often there several times a week visiting family. Both parents are alive, along with elder brother and sister and their kids. Milpitas is the central-hub for all family gatherings, BBQs, Christmas and birthday parties, and Vietnamese cultural celebrations. We all eat so much fresh Vietnamese foods, wraps and rolls, and fruits. Our kids will experience both German and Vietnamese cultures living with nearby grandparents and cousins, who will babysit and help raise our kids. Spending quality time with family is everything to us.

We both come from humble beginnings. Alex grew up with a part-time foster mother, while Trevor grew up impoverished in the Vietnamese countryside. To be honest, we know a thing-or- two about growing up without a lot of resources and working hard to overcome challenges in order to (just) survive another day. We are blessed that we now enjoy a large and loving extended family that is ready to help raise our children, so unlike our parents, we will not be alone. Our philosophy and approach to life is very open-minded and inclusive. We want to be parents who can help our children be their actualized-selves (i.e. who they long to be) and find a meaningful life-calling (i.e. what they love to do and do it often). Our goal is to raise independent, self- confident, and kind human beings who can lead with pride and make us stronger. Whichever horizons they choose, we would be so honored to be a part of their lives - step by step, day by day.

Trevor is from Vietnam, a total introvert, a U.S. Navy officer, and loves fun/ quirky experiences. Family is very important to us and we can’t wait to provide your child a loving and nurturing environment to grow up in. We hope to connect with you soon.
