Hello and welcome! We are Alvaro & Justin. We live in North Oakland, California with our son, Santiago. We greatly admire the courageous decision you’ve made to find a loving home for your child. We hope you share our dream of creating a nurturing, stable, supportive, and fun family, built on the foundation of unconditional love.

We are strongly committed to open adoption, and we would be honored for you and your child to be part of our family.

We met more than 17 years ago at a restaurant in Chicago. As cliché as it sounds, ours was love at first sight. We spent our first date chatting in Lincoln Park, discussing our shared dream of having children and agreeing on adoption.

We spent two-and-a-half years together in Chicago before moving to Madrid, and then to London. During our time in Spain, we were married. Living in Spain allowed Justin to bond with Alvaro’s family, better understand his culture, and learn the Spanish language. After 5 years in Europe, Justin’s job brought us to California’s Bay Area, where we have been ever since.

Alvaro is Spanish, and Justin is from Alabama. This fusion of our cultures makes us stronger as a couple and as individuals. We hope it will open the eyes of our children to a world far bigger and more beautiful than they ever imagined. Now that we’re parents to Santiago, we can’t wait to expand our family again through open adoption.

We absolutely love being dads! Since we were young, we both wanted to be dads. We are looking forward to the opportunity to teach another child, love him/her and provide the child with the best opportunities we can offer.

We have always believed in open adoption. For us it has always felt like the right path on our journey to be parents.

Throughout this process we are committed and open to whatever relationship is best for our future birth mother.

The oldest of three boys, Justin was born and raised in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. As a child, he was passionate about music – singing in church, playing piano, and trombone in his high school marching band. He looks forward to sharing his love for music with our children. Justin is always happy, cheerful, and full of positive energy.

Seeing Justin become a father has been incredible. He is patient, loving, and always ready with a smile or a song for Santiago. Watching him nurture and guide our son has made me love him even more, which I didn't know was possible. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

For Work: Justin manages a team of insurance underwriters. Yawn, right? Actually no! He gets to learn about business’ complex issues and help them protect themselves and their employees by being insured against unforeseen future events.

Alvaro is from Madrid, Spain, and is part of a large, close-knit family. He loves the outdoors, cooking, gardening, and above all, Justin. He is always hosting dinners for neighbors and friends and can’t wait to expand our family and teach our children how to make his favorite Spanish classic, ‘Paella’.

Witnessing Alvaro's journey into fatherhood has been nothing short of amazing. His dedication, creativity, and endless love for Santiago have shown me just how extraordinary he is. His ability to balance work and family life while always being there for us is truly inspiring. Alvaro is incredibly caring, generous, thoughtful, and was born to be a father. I know he will be an incredible one!

For Work: Alvaro manages a wealth management firm that helps people have a positive relationship with money and plan for their futures. He loves that his work impacts so many lives in a positive way.

Since our first adoption journey, our family has grown. We are the proud parents of Santiago, who will be 3 years old in August 2024.

Santiago has brought immense joy to our lives, and we are thrilled to welcome another child into our family. Santiago is excited to become a big brother and share his love for outdoor adventures and fun family traditions.

Santiago is a happy and active toddler who loves playing with his toys, going on adventures with Lola, and exploring new places. He attends a local daycare where he enjoys interacting with other children and learning new things every day. Santiago is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. Santiago has a kind and caring nature, and he often helps us with small tasks around the house. We look forward to watching Santiago grow alongside his new sibling, creating a lifelong bond filled with love and shared experiences.

We live in a residential neighborhood in North Oakland, California. We bought our home in 2014 and have spent a lot of time and effort restoring it. Our dream is to raise a family and grow old in this house. We live in a very diverse and tight-knit community. Many of our neighbors are like family, and our house has become the hub of our street. Friends and neighbors always stop by to say hello, play games, or just to chit-chat. Our friends have been incredibly supportive and helpful with our first child, Santiago, and we know they will be just as amazing with our next child. We enjoy having them over and look forward to welcoming another child into this loving community.

Lola is our 7-year-old cattle dog mix. She loves catching her frisbee, chasing her balls, swimming at the Yuba River, and giving lots of snuggles.

When she sees us after being away for even a short period of time, she curls her top lip to reveal her teeth – it’s her way of smiling at us. Lola is a cherished member of our family and is great with Santiago. They love each other dearly and are inseparable. Santiago enjoys playing fetch with Lola, and they often cuddle together on the couch after a long day of fun. Watching them bond has been heartwarming and reassuring that our home is filled with love and companionship.

Both of our families have been extremely supportive of us over the years. They love Santiago and they can’t wait to meet the newest member of our family!!

Justin’s family lives on a small farm outside of Birmingham, Alabama. They have 3 miniature donkeys, 19 chickens, and 2 horses. Their very own petting zoo y’all!

We enjoy going to Alabama to relax and unwind, spending time with family, caring for the animals, and gathering eggs for breakfast. We look forward to sharing this with our child!

Alvaro’s family lives in Madrid, Spain. His sister, Patricia, and brothers, Javier and Jorge, all have two children each, they are a big family! We love going to Spain at least once a year and spending time with them all. We usually rent a house near the coast and they join us for a couple of weeks during the summer months!

We’ve been fortunate that in all the countries in which we’ve lived, we’ve forged a wonderful network of friends. Since moving to California’s Bay Area, we’ve established an equally -cherished group of friends and neighbors we now call family. We share weekends together: hiking, hosting impromptu BBQ’s, taking trips to the Yuba River. They are all thrilled we are having a child and look forward to helping on this journey – it takes a village.
