Hi there from California! We are Carrie, Matt and Francis. We are so honored and moved that you are taking the time to learn a little bit about us. We love art and music, joking around, the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. We are so excited to grow our family through adoption. Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about us!
Dear Birth Mother
Why We Are Adopting
We have always dreamed of a family with multiple children. Carrie is the youngest of four siblings, and Matt has an older brother. Family has always been central to both of our lives, and we remain close friends with our siblings in adulthood. After our son Francis was born, Carrie was unable to become pregnant again. We’ve known many adoptive families and have seen first-hand how beautiful adoption is. Our niece was adopted at birth and lives in our neighborhood. Our nephew was adopted at 5 years old through foster adoption and we have loved welcoming him into our family. Carrie has cousins and close friends who were adopted as newborns and she grew up seeing adoption in her everyday life. We are so excited to grow our family through adoption!
Our Story
We got to know each other by playing in a band together. Carrie sang and played guitar and Matt played drums. After going on tour together we became best friends and fell in love. We were married in 2011, and our wonderful son Francis was born in 2017. We value family, community, music and laughter. We live in a peaceful neighborhood walking distance from family and close friends. We love playing and joking around with Francis and his cousins. Whether we are cooking meals for a family gathering or loading the car up for a beach day, we always are on the look out for ways we can have fun together. Last summer we got a puppy named Josephine to keep our two cats company.
Our Hobbies
- Playing music together with family and friends has always been a big part of how we spend our time.
- We both have sweet tooths and enjoy baking and going out for treats.
- Matt loves playing board games with Francis, and Carrie loves to paint and do arts and crafts projects.
- We love to go to beach and swim in the summer when the ocean warms up.
- During the cooler months we love walking along the shoreline and drawing and photographing the beautiful beaches we live near.
- We love hiking in the Hollywood hills and Santa Monica mountains.
- We both love to joke around and most of all love spending time with our seven-year-old son Francis and our gentle and lazy puppy Josephine.
- Our two cats Mildred and Leonard lay around our house, but like to keep us company while reading on the couch or watching TV in the evenings.
Meet Carrie, Written by Carrie
I am very caring, loving, and always try to meet people where they are. I am a very warm and loving friend, mother, daughter, and sister. I love to practice guitar, paint, and read. I enjoy gardening, taking care of my son Francis, and joking around with my sister, husband, and friends. I am very hardworking, determined and try to see the whole picture while I work through hardships. I tend to be hopeful and keep the faith. My goal is to grow my family and cultivate a life that is filled with joy, music, and laughter. I want my family to feel taken care of and to be enveloped in peace, confidence, and love. I want to continue working on my painting and to someday open a music and art school of my own where I can teach kids and adults how to express themselves creatively. I love being a mother and am so ready to grow our family!
More About Carrie, Written by Matt
Carrie is an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, teacher and friend. She dedicates herself to caring for the people in her life. She is brilliant in the way she speaks with kids of all ages — Francis, our nieces and nephews, her students, and our friends’ kids. I love her for her values and her commitment to them — community, laughter and joy, art and music. She is very smart and very wise, deeply insightful, quick witted and funny as hell. She’s a talented painter, musician, and teacher. She’s beautiful. I adore and admire her.
Meet Matt, Written by Matt
I am kind, caring, and gentle. I can get along well with almost anyone, but have a small group of family and friends that I am super close with. I love being in nature, outings around the city and quiet days at home. I love being a dad, getting to see the world through Francis’ eyes, to explore the world with him, and help him navigate challenges and difficult moments.
More About Matt, Written by Carrie
Matt is a very loving and caring man. He is incredibly supportive and encouraging to me in good times and during hard times. He always leads with kindness in any situation and is very open minded. His calm and patient way of parenting Francis is a joy to witness. He is very fun and has a great sense of humor. He shares his love of nature with our son and it has led to so many beautiful times together. He is an outstanding man, husband, son, and father. I fell in love with him when I was 19 and have loved him more each day for the last 16 years. Matt has always been very easy to talk to. We communicate very calmly and openly with each other. Whether my feeling are clear or still developing, it is helpful to discuss with Matt. I often leave the conversation more in tune with myself and grateful to have such a loving partner to talk to. We talk over problems big and small together. Recently he has taken good care of me while I grieve the loss of my father.

Meet Francis
Francis is our seven-year-old son. He is a very sweet and empathetic little guy. Francis has longed for a sibling forever and is so excited to be a big brother. He loves babies and playing with his friends’ younger siblings. He loves comic books and the beach. He has lots of friends and is very close to two of his cousins who are his same age. He has two cousins that are adopted and was so proud to share with them that his new sibling would also be adopted! We will ensure that all of our children feel our unwavering love equally while encouraging their individuality. We have a good foundation of supporting different personality types and will constantly be educating ourselves in ways to specifically support your child’s needs, interests, and dreams.
Our Home & Community
We spend a lot of time at home. Matt works from home and Carrie teaches music lessons from her home studio as well. Our house is filled with books and toys, vintage and family heirloom furniture, and Carrie’s and our friends’ art. We love to garden and spend lots of time playing and eating outside. Friends love stopping by our house for a cup of coffee. Our nieces and nephews always have fun hanging around our house and playing in the yard. Our community is filled with diverse and culturally rich activities. Carrie has taught many different types of music and art classes all over Los Angeles and have the heads up on all the wonderful happenings about town. We go to the museums and take part in their family activities often. Our friends run the garden and educational program at the LA Natural History Museum so we love making a day of it. And in our neighborhood Francis takes swimming lessons, karate classes, art classes, and plays at the park almost everyday after school with friends.
Our Loved Ones
We are very close to both of our extended family! We live in the same town as Carrie’s brother and sister’s family who both have adopted children who we are very close to. Carrie’s parents lived a block away from us. Last summer her father was tragically killed saving his grandson’s life. An out of control car was headed straight towards his grandson and Carrie’s dad leapt in front, moving his grandson out of harm’s way. Since the tragic accident, we have cared for each other as we walk through the immense grief. We spend lots of time together celebrating her dad’s life and sacrifice and we honor him everyday. We channel his love and philosophy everyday in the way we parent our son and will continue to honor him through always putting our devotion to family ahead of all else. He was an incredibly kind, gentle, funny, and selfless man who was hugely beloved by the community. Over 1,000 people came to his memorial and each person said that they were not surprised by his selfless sacrifice. We love the holidays very much! Our neighborhood always has something fun going on. There are lots of family friendly activities and events during Halloween and Christmas. Our extended families gather for Christmas time and we do multiple gatherings that shower the kiddos with gifts and attention. Carrie’s favorite holiday is Easter, and she hosts big family party every year. She puts on a huge egg hunt for all the kids and makes a special cake in the shape of a lamb that was a recipe passed down from her grandmother.
