Hello! We are Kully & Darren. Kully is from England and Darren is from Utah but we now live in Oakland, California. We share our home with our adorable Goldendoodle puppy, Dexter.

We are so grateful you have chosen to learn more about us through our profile. We live a wonderful life which is filled with travel, adventure, family and friends. We cannot wait to share the richness of this life with our future child. We hope, through this profile, we can give you an idea of what our life is like, the type of experiences that are important to us, that we are excited to bring into your child's life and the kind of loving parents we cannot wait to become.

Our adoption journey began after years of unsuccessful fertility treatments. We both knew deeply that we wanted to be parents together and this led us to look at other avenues of how this could happen. We both come from large, loving and supportive families which provide us the grounding and support to build our own.

We are so excited to be connected to you and the prospect of potentially joining you on the journey that you are taking with such grace and selflessness.

We met like most modern couples do, on a dating app. For the first date, Darren took Kully to a hip wine bar in San Francisco. After an hour or so of getting to know each other, Darren decided to see just how cool Kully actually was and asked if she would like to try some tacos from a little known Taqueria. Kully passed with flying colors and loved the Al Pastor tacos he introduced her to, this began our shared love of food. Our first date is an example of what makes us work. We love to have long conversations about life, sharing stories of our childhoods and things we love. What also makes us strong as a couple are our differences. Kully is organized and driven to get things done right away. Darren tends to sit back and take his time with life. Our relationship thrives as we bring these strengths together.

I grew up in a city in England with my parents and two brothers. I am from a large family with lots of cousins which meant I had a ready made friendship group growing up. I grew up loving reading books, playing instruments like the flute and recorder and acting in school plays. Every summer, I would spend a few weeks in London, England with my cousins where we would go to the theater or sightseeing. Our summers were never complete without a trip to an amusement park with lots of hair raising rides! I moved to New York at 25 and built an amazing life with friends who became family. I bought my first apartment there and never thought I would leave. I took a leap of faith and moved to California for work. I became a fur mama to my dog Dexter who has provided years of joy and entertainment. I had one lasting desire, to meet the love of my life and build a family. 2 years later I met Darren and never thought I'd meet someone so perfect for me. We can't wait to build our family together.

Every day I have a moment or two where I sit back and think about how lucky I am to have met Kully. She embodies the type of person I think we should all strive to be. She is driven and passionate about life, but she has an incredible way of keeping in perspective what is important. Kully has an incredible capacity to love, which is one of the key factors that I think will make her an incredible mother. She has an amazing sense of humor and a smile to go with it. One of the fun parts of meeting Kully has been getting to know all of the family and friends around the world that love her dearly. People that know Kully feel lucky and grateful to have her in their life, and I of course feel the luckiest of all.

About 20 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah is where I was born and raised. I am the middle of 3 boys. My childhood was filled with sports and exploring the mountain I grew up on. After college at the University of Utah, I moved out to the San Francisco Bay Area to start an art and clothing company. I fell in love with this part of the world and decided to make it my permanent home. In 2019 I met the love of my life Kully. She is a perfect counterpart to me in every way. These days my life is filled with some combination of family, friends, music, sports, traveling, hiking, snowboarding, dining out, work and sleep. I have 3 nephews and 1 niece, who I love to make memories with. Being an Uncle is one of my great joys of life, and I can't wait to become a Dad.

Darren is a caring, considerate and sensitive man who isn't afraid to share what is on his mind. He can have deep or fun, fact filled conversations with whoever he meets. His smile lights up a room and people are naturally drawn to him. He is a rock in turbulent times and my biggest champion. He is an incredible husband and dog dad, I often wonder how Dexter and I got so lucky. His qualities of optimism, patience, care, kindness and love will make him a wonderful father. His sense of adventure and curiosity will bring the fun along.

We live in a very diverse neighborhood in Oakland in a beautiful 4 bedroom home with a great backyard with plenty of space for playing. We are surrounded by schools making it easy to be able to walk our future child to school every day. Nearby we have hiking trails, a lake, zoos and science centers as well as different restaurants/cuisines which offers us the opportunity to introduce our future child to different environments. Oakland is also only a 20 minute drive from San Francisco which is a beautiful city on the bay.

In addition to our home in Oakland, we also have a vacation home in Truckee, California which is very close to Lake Tahoe. We enjoy every season there. In the winter, when it snows, we love to snowboard and snowshoe and can picture us building snowmen and having snowball fun with our future child. We are excited to see them laugh in wonder as they run through the soft snow. In the summer, there are many activities that can be done around and on the lake like boating, kayaking, tubing. All fun activities we can't wait to enjoy with our future child as they age.

Dexter is our 4 year old Goldendoodle. He is a mischievous love bug. He loves being outside and his favorite activity is running around in fresh snow. Dexter loves to hike although more often prefers to be carried if he can get away with it.

Dexter is a fun, curious and energetic dog and we can see hours of fun being had with his new human friend who he will follow around loyally.

Much of our family is either in Utah or England and we enjoy visiting them often. Darren's parents are both in Utah, Kully's father is in England. Kully's mother passed away in 2021. Our parents cannot wait to spoil a future grandchild. We both come from large families and grew up with immediate friendship circles with our cousins. Between us we have 40 "nieces and nephews" in our wider family so our future child will not be short of people loving on them. When we do get together, we enjoy dinners, outdoor activities and generally just hanging out and catching up. Our families are diverse with many multiracial marriages and children. Kully also has a cousin who was adopted. Kully's brother and his family live less than an hour away and we see them often, taking the children to Happy Hollow to go on rides and visit the zoo. Our friends are our extended family and village and play a large role in our lives. Our friends are from all walks of life from race, sexual orientation, nationality and ethnicity. Some friends have young children, others have none. We have friends who have adopted and friends who themselves were adopted. The mix and balance we have brings a lot of joy to our lives as we share different experiences.

Our values are grounded in understanding and accepting differences, honesty, giving more than you take, committing and living life with a sense of humor.

We value different life experiences, curiosity, bravery and not being afraid to try new things.

We are excited to raise our future child with core values such as integrity, patience, kindness, to help them understand the value of hard work, commitment and family. Raising a child who will be a good human is our goal. We want to parent with positive reinforcement. We want to be open and transparent with our future child and discuss all topics that are important for their growth and well being.

As future parents we also want to share a lot of fun with our future child. We want to be able to take them traveling, introduce them to outdoor activities while also encouraging a healthy interest in Arts.

Open adoption is important to us as we believe it will help our future child have a strong understanding of their background and help build a strong sense of self.

We will honor and fully embrace the wishes and dreams you have for your child and we will do everything we can to help make those come true.
