Hello! We are Ashleigh & Doug from Coronado Island in sunny San Diego, California.

Adoption is very special to us. We tried to have biological children and were unable due to infertility. Doug was adopted at birth and it’s always been on our hearts to adopt. Because Doug has firsthand experience growing up adopted, we feel uniquely qualified to understand, love, and support the needs of your child.

We met of all places in the laundry room of our apartment building in Denver, Colorado! Doug casually asked Ashleigh to dinner in between doing loads. She said yes and the rest is history! We’ve been together for 10 wonderful years and happily married for 5. Never did we think a West Coaster from Los Angeles, Ashleigh, and an East Coaster from Maryland, Doug, would fall in love in the middle of the country. God is Good!

We are best friends, soulmates, and a perfect combination of silly and serious! Laughter, love, and happiness fill our lives. We like sending cute texts and memes to each other. We love spending quality time together playing with our dog, coffee dates, new restaurants, our favorite shows, the ferry to Downtown San Diego, and beach bonfires with friends.

Ashleigh is a fun firecracker who has an amazing ability to connect with people. Ashleigh has a huge heart and it is one of the many things I fell in love with her for. She truly cares about other people and always goes to great lengths to show them. Professionally Ashleigh was honored as a distinguished middle school math teacher. She has mentored girls through YoungLife youth ministry and has faithfully guided them through many of life’s milestones. She always makes time for friends and family in good times and in bad. She loves DMC’s (deep meaningful conversations) and is always receiving texts and calls for guidance from her many friends. I have heard several women mention she has “Mom Vibes”. I know Ashleigh will be an amazing mother because she’s already an amazing wife and human being!

Doug is honest, loving, kind, respectful, loyal, and compassionate. Doug has the strongest character of anyone I know. He is incredibly patient and understanding which is why he thrived as a Special Education Teacher and in his current role in hospitality. I love Doug’s heart of gold and thoughtfulness. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needs it. Doug has an easygoing and calm demeanor. Doug is very athletic and played a ton of sports growing up. He was a Division 1 Lacrosse player and coach. I can’t wait for him to teach our future child how to play! And last but not least, he gives the best hugs. God has blessed my life with this wonderful man and I know he will be the most amazing father.

Kingsley is our 7-year-old Maltipoo who we rescued at 9 months old. He’s the happiest little guy and loves being around adults and children. Kingsley brings us so much joy. We know he will be a terrific fur brother!

We are incredibly blessed to live in a safe, beautiful, family-oriented neighborhood full of families who we’ve become great friends with. Our Island home features 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a patio, and a front yard and is a short walk to the beach and the bay.

We belong to a kid-friendly Christian Community Group. We live in a fabulous school district and are across the street from the elementary, middle, and high schools. Our home is just a quick stroll to the library, playgrounds, swim center, hospital and Starbucks!

Our amazing community offers Concerts in the Park, Spaghetti Dinners at the Fire Station, community bike rides, and Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade to name a few. It’s the most incredible place to grow up!

Doug’s immediate family is small but mighty. He’s an adopted only child raised by two wonderful parents Hervey and Loretta who have been happily married for over 50 years. Both of Doug's parents come from large families with 5 siblings each. He has over 30 cousins. We come together at the family home on the Chesapeake Bay that has been in the family for three generations. There we have fun kayaking, playing board games, and crabbing! We alternate major holidays between California and Maryland. It’s always fun to travel coast to coast!

Ashleigh comes from a warm, close-knit, fun-loving family. She has a younger sister, two half-siblings, and two step-brothers. She also has 8 nephews and nieces. We see each other a couple times a month and take family trips to Catalina Island. One of our favorite traditions is celebrating birthday WEEKS! Most of the family lives in San Diego and Los Angeles and are all excited to lend a helping hand.
