Hello! We're Emily & Harsh from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Before we introduce ourselves, we would like to say thank you for making a wonderful and generous decision and giving couples like us a chance to experience the miracles of parenthood.

We are filled with joy that you are reading our profile. We admire your strength and want to offer our encouragement and support as you consider open adoption. We hope to have an opportunity to learn about you and we would be honored to have you consider us as adoptive parents for your child.

As a couple, we have faced multiple health-related challenges that have both tested us and affirmed our commitment to each other. Emily was diagnosed with a chronic health condition at the age of sixteen. Several years ago, we saw a high-risk OBGYN who informed us that due to her health conditions, a pregnancy and delivery would put both Emily and the baby at extremely high-risk. We have explored different options and we feel adoption is the best fit to help us start our family together. We have talked extensively with our families and they are very supportive. We cannot wait to begin the journey of parenthood together.

We moved to the Bay Area separately in 2012. A few years later, in 2015, we met and hit it off right away. Though we work in very different fields and come from diverse backgrounds, we share important values and a quirky sense of humor that connected us from our first coffee date at a local café.

We were married in Half Moon Bay, California in a small jazz concert hall that was as close to the beach as possible without being on the sand! Our wedding ceremony reflected our two cultures and religions, Indian and Jewish - it was truly a weekend that blended two families together into one.

We loved exploring California together and we've have had several travel adventures. We recently moved to Michigan to be closer to family and friends.

We enjoy being outside as much as possible. On the weekends, we like exploring different walking and hiking paths. We also like to try different varieties of food at our neighborhood restaurants.

We worked our way through our 'California bucket list'. Last spring, we had the opportunity to visit Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. Several months ago, we went out of our comfort zone and went on a hot air balloon ride in Napa Valley.

Together, we see plays at local theaters, have games night with friends, and grow fresh vegetables and herbs in our container garden. When we're not at home, we travel to visit our close circle of friends and family who are spread out across the country.

I grew up in Michigan, the youngest of three sisters. I am grateful to have had very involved parents; they are strong role models who exemplify the traits that I want to possess as a mother.

I'm an avid reader and enjoy solving 1000-piece puzzles. I also enjoy making handmade, crocheted blankets for loved ones. I have been an active volunteer for a non-profit, “Sunday Friends” and at our Temple. I most recently worked as the Director of Health and Social Services at an organization that supports older adults and their families. It is a priority for me to have positions that allow me to have a good work/life balance.

I love being 'Aunt Em' to our 5 nieces and nephews - especially reading stories, Facetiming, choosing special gifts, and being silly with the kids.

Emily is an amazingly kind, resilient and very driven person. I love seeing how committed she is to her core value of helping others and how she took that dedication and forged it into her social work career. She always gives 110% into anything that she takes on, and she has an infectious enthusiasm that makes it easy to accompany her. We share similar values of family and justice even though we've grown up on different sides of the planet.

Emily has made me want to be a better man and partner ever since we met. She loves all her nieces and nephews dearly and it is a treat to see them interact, play and laugh together. I know Emily is going to be such a wonderful mother!

I grew up in Mumbai, India and Bahrain in the Middle East. I'm the youngest of three siblings. I came to the US in 2002 for a Computer Engineering degree and several years ago, I became a US citizen. I am grateful to have the chance to participate in the pursuit of the American dream like many immigrants before me.

I work as a Product Manager in the tech industry. I am fortunate to have the flexibility to work remotely and have generous parental leave policies and benefits.

I am learning to play guitar and I enjoy playing video games with friends. I also have a passion for cooking and baking for our friends and family. As an Uncle, I love to build Legos, play outside, and listen to their jokes.

Harsh is an incredibly thoughtful partner; he has supported me in big and small ways in the years I've known him. Harsh has been by my side through health flare ups and encourages me in difficult times. He always makes me laugh.

Harsh helps me think about life in a different way. Our different experiences have made our lives together richer. Harsh has been open to learning all of my family traditions and Jewish practices.

Harsh is committed to family. He has lengthy phone conversations with his mom, dad, and uncle every week. He always has a big grin on his face when he is playing with our nieces and nephews. I can’t wait to see Harsh become a Dad because I know he will be so good at it!

We live in a single-family home in a quiet neighborhood in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Our diverse neighborhood has many young families and there are a lot of things to do within a short distance. We enjoy going for long walks around our neighborhood, hanging out in local parks, and exploring the wide-ranging food and activities in this college town.

We have several family members who live close by. We are lucky to have regular family dinners, support when needed, and the opportunity for many adventures with our nieces around town. We can’t wait to raise a child in our home and community!

Harsh's family is spread out across the world. He is very close with his uncle, who resides stateside. He was the first family member that Emily met; he helped teach her about Indian cooking. Harsh's brother and mom live in California. We enjoy visiting them and eating his mom's delicious home cooking. His dad is in India and his sister's family live in Canada. They have family video calls every week, sometimes including cousins in India.

Emily has weekly phone dates with her older sisters. They are incredibly close and recently took a 'sisters' trip' to Vermont in the Fall. They plan to continue to this tradition. Emily's dad lives an hour away and we connect with regular dinner plans and phone calls. As the years go by, Emily has relied on her parents' advice and support in many ways.

We have five nieces and nephews - under the age of 11 - in our combined family. We travel across the country several times a year to meet everyone for holidays and summer vacations. It has been a highlight for us to be 'Aunt Em and Uncle Harsh' and we love seeing the world through their curious eyes.

We would like to impart our values of learning, equality and family togetherness to our future child.

We want them to value the importance of hard work and helping others over self. Harsh would like to teach and play soccer with them. Emily would love to read with and give the gift of appreciating literature to them. Harsh wants to instill the value of education and the opportunities that it will open up for them, and Emily wants to show them how to have empathy for others and keep an open mind to different experiences and points of view. We realize that the ultimate goal is to give your child a loving home where they can thrive and be themselves. We are open to discussing what your preferences are for contact post-adoption.
