We’re a fun-loving couple with a lot of love to share. We know a lot of families formed by adoption, so when we were unable to conceive a child, we took heart in knowing we could be that support for someone else. We’re so excited to become parents, and it would be an honor to welcome your child into our family. To us, parenthood means unconditional love, support, and guidance. We’ll be there for your child through struggle and triumph, to encourage them to reach for the stars, and to do everything we can to help them get there. Whatever your situation, whatever you choose for your child, know that we support you and your decision.

We met in New York City in 2009 when Jen was directing a film and hired Tim as a cameraman. We worked and filmed together for six weeks, traveling to a remote part of the world to make a movie. Little did we realize that we’d soon fall deeply in love!

After spending time together, we realized we had so much in common, including our love of family and friends, appreciation of diverse cultures and languages, and our love of all the little things that make us laugh. Near the end of the trip, we kissed, and we’ve been together ever since.

Two years after that first kiss, Tim proposed to Jen in the Arizona desert at sunset after visiting Tim’s parents for Christmas. We love being in nature, so we had a small wedding in a botanical garden, surrounded by our family and closest friends. We love to travel, spend time outdoors, and create things together.

I grew up in Massachusetts and Vermont. I have great memories of being outdoors, swimming in rivers, hiking, and playing in the snow. My family life was very full and fun, especially summers and holidays. After high school, I worked my way around the world, picking fruit, waitressing, and working on boats. Traveling overseas gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures, and I fell in love with learning. I was lucky to receive a scholarship to attend college where I discovered my passion for film. A few years later, I applied for graduate school because I knew I wanted to teach.

Today I make documentary films, and I teach students how to make films. I love teaching and mentoring young people. My favorite things to do are hiking along the California coast with Tim and our pup Sophie, watching films, and reading with a hot cup of coffee on the weekend. I love helping children use their imaginations, and I'm excited about exploring and creating things with our future child.

Jen is the most beautiful soul I know. She’s kind, caring, thoughtful and funny, and she’s a gifted teacher. She’s a natural with kids of all ages, and they’re drawn to her, too. Jen treats children with kindness and care. She can be playful and silly and fun, and she can also be serious when it’s time to be serious. She’s a great role model. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and to fight for justice, and she’s also a great listener. I can’t imagine a better partner in life, and I’ve always known she’ll be an amazing mom.

I grew up in a quiet neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona with my younger brother Michael. We spent summers in a small town in Ohio with our grandparents. We had a lot of family friends and often went on camping trips and spent holidays together.

With my dad’s help, I made my first home movie when I was 11, and today I work as a cameraman and make documentaries. One thing I love about my job is that I can create my own schedule, so I’ll have plenty of time to spend with our future child.

I’ve always known I wanted to be a dad, and I can’t wait to take them on adventures, to use our imagination to build things together, and to support them in whatever they want to be in life.

Tim is the love of my life and my best friend. One of the first things that struck me about Tim is his kindness. Tim cares deeply about treating other people, including people he loves, strangers, and animals, with respect. Tim and I taught young filmmakers together, and I watched him mentor students with such joy.

Tim may seem serious when you first meet him, but he has a silly side and a great sense of humor. I love making Tim smile and watching him belly laugh. He is adventurous and loves using his imagination to explore, create, and build new things. With his kindness, consideration towards others, and sense of adventure, I know Tim will be such an amazing dad.

We live in a quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood in Richmond, CA, across the bay from San Francisco. Our home is very bright and warm, and we have a big backyard, perfect for barbecues, gardening, or just playing in the grass. We live near excellent public schools and we’re surrounded by beautiful parks and many great places to go for outdoor adventures. The community is very diverse and we’re also part of the university community through Jen’s work, as well as the filmmaking community. We have plenty of interesting people in our lives and many of those interesting people are kids!

Sophie is a very funny, loveable Goldendoodle puppy. She loves people, other dogs, and even cats and chickens! She’s very gentle with children, and people at the dog park are always amazed at how delicate she is when they hand her a treat. Every day she makes us laugh. We crack up when we catch her sleeping belly-up, throwing toys to herself, or running in circles at the beach. She’s such a joy, and always up for adventure.

We have a huge network of family and close friends, and spend holidays surrounded by family. Jen’s huge extended family is all in Boston, with more aunts, uncles, and cousins than we could ever fit on this page. Jen’s mom, Dona, just retired and will have lots of time to spend with her future grandchild. Tim’s parents, Jane and Doug, are also retired and live in Phoenix. His brother, Michael lives in Seattle with his wife Andrea and our niece, Annika, who just turned five. We get to see them all several times a year. We have a lot of very close friends with young children and enjoy having people over for backyard barbecues and hikes along the coast.
