It’s so nice to “meet” you. We’re Jessica, Mickey, and Kia, our sweet and cuddly Bernese Mountain dog, from Denver, Colorado (go Nuggets!). We believe that families come in all shapes and sizes and couldn’t be more excited to grow ours through adoption. Our home is filled with joy and laughter (we don’t care if a little flour spills on the floor when we’re baking!), and our greatest hope is to create a life for our child where they’re surrounded by unconditional love and celebrated for exactly who they are. We know this is an extremely hard and brave decision for you. Whatever brought you here, we’re grateful you’re taking the time to get to know us and look forward to learning about your hopes for your child’s future.

We live in a vibrant, family-friendly neighborhood just outside downtown Denver, full of kids and cute pups. We’re within walking distance of ice cream shops, bakeries, parks, playgrounds, and basketball courts, and just a short drive to the stunning Colorado mountains and Boulder—home to the CU Buffs. Our cozy and colorful 1910 bungalow is where we love decorating for the seasons, cooking for friends and family, listening to music, or watching our favorite shows. We like one-of-a-kind vintage items, stacks of books, and lots of board games. Kia loves trips to the nearby lake, where she hilariously stares down the ducks. We enjoy exploring community festivals and sporting events or taking quick trips to the mountains, but our favorite moments are the simple ones at home—movie nights with all the treats and summer afternoons barbecuing in the backyard. We’re so grateful to live in a city with people from various backgrounds and to have extended networks of kind and interesting friends and family across the country. We can’t wait to share our joyful home with our child and fill it with even more love, laughter, and flour trails.

We’re extremely close with our families, who are all located in the Denver area and are so supportive and excited about our adoption journey. Mickey’s dad and two brothers are always joking around or playing sports, while Jessica’s mom, dad, sister, and 9-year-old niece (who is Jessica’s bestie) are constantly laughing and love spending time together—including when Jessica and her mom and sister owned a jewelry boutique! We’re both Colorado natives, but Jessica’s family has deep East Coast roots—Grandma Donna is a true Jersey girl, and Jessica spent summers in New York growing up. Our families are built on trust, loyalty, and plenty of humor, and we have many traditions we can’t wait to share with our child. We’re excited to honor and learn about our child’s unique background and cultural traditions, knowing these will be an important part of their identity and our family’s story.

First, I want you to know how excited I am to be a mom—this is what I want most in life. One of my greatest joys has been watching my little niece grow up, and I can’t wait for Mickey and me to grow our family. I love connecting with people and making those close to me feel special—whether it’s hosting a big holiday celebration, giving a thoughtful gift, spending quality time, or planning a fun activity. I’m high-energy (I’ve been known to bust into spontaneous dance), upbeat, and love laughing and having fun, but I’m also serious when needed and a natural planner—whether it’s organizing a vacation or remodeling our home. Growing up, my family modeled closeness and loyalty, and I’m so excited for them to bring these values to our child’s life. For work, I am vice president of a media and events company in the natural products industry where my coworkers have become close friends to both me and Mickey. As part of the job, I get to try all different delicious foods and beauty products before they reach stores and meet the founders of these companies from all around the world! I mainly work from home and have opportunities to take family along on my work trips—like to Disneyland.

Jessica has so many amazing qualities—she’s truly the most incredible woman I’ve ever known. She’s smart, driven, hilarious, and kind. But most of all, she was put on this earth to be a mother. She has a gift for creating special memories for everyone around her, whether it’s through amazing meals, fun dance parties, or the many themed events she loves to host. Her natural nurturing and protective qualities make her one of a kind. Jessica excels at everything she does, but being a mom is what she’s truly meant for, and I have no doubt she’ll be amazing at it. I know she’ll make sure our kids have the best childhood possible and will always shield them from anything that might get in the way of that.

I’m so excited and ready to be a dad—this is what I was put on this earth to do. I can’t wait to grow my family with Jessica. Supporting my family is incredibly important to me, and I love creating fun memories through activities we all enjoy. I enjoy playing sports, making music, and creating art, and I can’t wait to share those passions with our child. I’m looking forward to cheering at their future sports events, riding bikes with them, or watching them explore music or other interests. I want to encourage them to chase their dreams, whatever they may be. I grew up in a very working-class family and am excited to give our child opportunities and experiences I didn’t have growing up. My dad is over at least three times a week to walk the dog and hang out, and he’s so proud and excited to be a grandpa. My mom remarried about 10 years ago and now lives on a ranch in Arvada, where our kids will be able to learn to ride horses anytime they want. I am extremely passionate about ensuring that our child will have every opportunity imaginable.

One of the things I adore most about my husband (other than that he shares a name with arguably the best Disney character) is knowing he’s going to be an incredible dad—and not just because of his plentiful dad jokes. Mickey has an amazing ability to make everyone around him laugh and feel at ease, whether it's through his quick wit or his genuine, down-to-earth personality. Beyond his sense of humor, Mickey is one of the kindest, most loyal, and most committed people I’ve ever known. He’s the type of person who will stand by your side through thick and thin—a true ride or die!

We met on Halloween (yes, in full costume!) more than 15 years ago. While life took us in different directions, we reconnected more than a decade later and knew immediately we wanted to build our family and grow old together. We got married at the courthouse shortly after and are so grateful that fate brought us back together. Now, we can’t wait for this next chapter and look forward to continuing to celebrate the big and small things (including the holiday that we met on!) with our growing family.

Kia is the perfect family dog—extremely calm, incredibly sweet, and absolutely loves being around kids. She always stays close to her family, whether that’s during a trip to the farmer’s market or snuggling on the sofa. She knows three tricks: Shake, high five, and wave (ok, they’re all the same trick, but still, she can’t wait to show it off!).
