We have always dreamed of becoming mothers, and after years of struggling with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss, our hearts are filled with hope as we begin the adoption journey. Adoption is a beautiful gift that has always been a part of our story. Kara, along with her older sister and their late grandmother, were all adopted. In addition to Kara’s family, Jackie has a close aunt who also comes from adoption. Together, we are excited to grow our family through adoption like family members did before us, and welcome a little one into our hearts and home.

Like many love story’s nowadays, ours started online. We met through a dating app in November of 2014, and by January of 2015 we were pretty much inseparable. We quickly discovered our shared passions for sports, traveling, and cooking, and held the same values that we felt were most important in life; family, friends, kindness, respect, and adventure. Whether our time is spent trying new restaurants, going to different sporting events, or getting lost in a foreign city abroad, our moments together are always filled with joy, curiosity, love, and laughter. These days when we’re not working, we enjoying spending our free time with our families and friends, hosting game nights, going to our town beach, going to the movies, traveling to Maine (one of our favorite states), and coaching/watching basketball. We look forward to sharing these fun experiences with our future child.

I am adopted, just like my older sister, and I’m excited about sharing this special connection with my future child. My friends and family would describe me as kind, caring, and thoughtful, with a great sense of humor. They’d say I’m nurturing, and loving, and have strong maternal instincts, always looking out for others. I’m known for being sensitive and deeply empathetic, with a genuine desire to spread kindness in the world and to those around me. They would all agree that the simple things in life bring me the most joy: time spent with family and friends, our two cats, a beautiful sunrise or sunset, a starry night sky, nature, and animals. My hobbies which include photography, crocheting, baking, home decorating, and gardening, are things that help make me, me. I have been dreaming of becoming a mother ever since I was a young girl, and when the day finally comes, I cannot wait to show our child all of the beauty that this world holds. I look forward to providing them with a life filled with unconditional love, support, and fun, which is what my parents gave to me.

Kara is simply a joy to be around. She’s my best friend and sounding board. Kara’s depth of care and love has no end. She is the definition of care giver and I am in awe of her constant ability to be aware of everyone and everything in her life and what they might need. She makes me and everyone around her feel comforted, loved and thought of. What’s most impressive is she not only is sincere, but balances that with an incredible sense of humor. Kara is effortlessly funny and one of the few people that can get me to belly laugh on a daily basis. She is fiercely passionate about her family and protects them at all costs. The value that she puts on family is one of my favorite things about her. I constantly aspire to be like her in so many ways - especially when it comes to her perseverance. Life hasn’t always been easy, but she grows from those experiences and continues to be present and hopeful. There is no one on this planet better suited to be a mother, and I cannot wait to see her thrive in that role.

My parents and two brothers would describe me as fun, passionate, caring, and loyal. Sports has been a pillar in my life, even from the very start. So much so that my dad tells me I was named after his favorite NFL player, Jack Lambert. My drive and work ethic landed me a Division I basketball scholarship for college. It was there that I found my second family – my teammates. This diverse group of incredible women are my best friends. They would describe me as adventurous, silly, and selfless. My college experience helped propel me into my college basketball coaching career, and I’m heading into year 15 of coaching. I have loved every second of it. I have coached at all levels, Division I, II and III. My unique profession has given me the chance to connect with, support, and mentor 200+ young athletes. Developing relationships with my players has always come natural to me, and it is by far the most rewarding part of my job. The ability to form this type of strong, unbreakable bond with a child of my own is what I am looking forward to the most.

You’ll never find someone more passionate about their career, family, and friends than Jackie. She is the hardest worker I know, pouring her heart and soul into everything she does. Jackie is incredibly thoughtful, kind, loving, and outgoing. She’s someone everybody trusts and turns to in times of need. Her ability to listen without judgment and offer wise advice is something I deeply admire about her. She gives the best hugs, and when you’re with her, you feel like you’re home. A natural protector, she’s always looking out for the people she loves—whether it’s family, friends, or her players. Jackie never takes a single moment for granted and cherishes every second spent with her loved ones. She’s also wonderfully goofy, with the best imagination I’ve ever seen in any adult, constantly making up games with our nephews and being the first to play with them as soon as she sees them. She without question, is going to make the most amazing mom. Her playful personality and loving nature helps her connect easily with kids and because of this I know she will thrive in motherhood.

We live on the stunning Connecticut shoreline and truly love our community! Being just 10 minutes from the local town beach means we can easily enjoy sun-filled days by the water. We’re also fortunate to be only 90 minutes from New York City and Boston. Living close to a college grants us access to its beautiful facilities, including lovely gardens, a fitness center, a pool, and playing fields, which we take full advantage of. One of the reasons we chose the Northeast is our appreciation for the changing seasons. We can’t imagine living in a place without snow in winter or the vibrant colors of fall. Our town hosts “Sail Fest,” a delightful summer festival just five minutes from our home, featuring ships, international cuisine, a carnival, and fireworks—an event we can’t wait to share with our future child! We’re also pleased to have an excellent elementary school in walking distance from our home. The school system here is outstanding, and we look forward to our future child experiencing all the wonderful activities and community events we cherish. We’re excited to create lasting memories together and help them explore the beauty of our surroundings.

As a couple, we see our families as one big, loving unit. Kara has a mom, dad, and adopted sister Kimmi, while Jackie has her mom, dad, and two brothers. Kara’s parents are calm, supportive and nurturing while Jackie’s parents are adventurous, silly and outgoing. Our siblings are very similar and are fiercely loyal and compassionate. Together, we blend our experiences and traditions, creating a warm environment filled with laughter and support. Both of our families celebrate adoption, and in this shared experience, we’ve learned to embrace what makes us different. It’s in that diversity that’s made our families truly grow. Adoption has expanded our hearts, not just our family trees. It has shown us that family isn’t just about biology—it’s about connection, care, and the unbreakable ties that form when love and trust are at the core. This shared experience has become the foundation of our strength, understanding, and deep sense of belonging for all involved.

We have friends who are foster parents and we have been a part of each of their babies lives. Jackie’s best friend and college teammate is also going through the adoption process with her husband so it’ll be nice to have them as part of our “village” as well. Jackie was a DI basketball player and is lucky to have many of those women, and coaches, still in her life. They will all be wonderful supports as we navigate this process and the excitement of finally having a family of our own. We are thrilled to welcome a child into our home, who will have three cousins to create lasting memories with. Colin is the oldest of our nephews, followed by Nolan, who is three years younger. Both boys are kind, active, and excited to meet their new cousin. Additionally, Kara’s sister Kimmi recently had a baby boy, and we hope our child and he will be close in age and become the best of friends.

As we write this, our hearts are filled with gratitude and hope. We deeply admire your strength and courage in considering adoption. The love you have for your child inspires us every day.
