Hello! We are Maria and Brian from San Diego, California. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We can’t imagine how difficult this decision is for you, but hope that you will find comfort in learning a little about us and why we cannot wait to become adoptive parents. We wish you the best in your decision and want you to know that we look forward to learning more about you and all of your wishes for your child. Our journey in becoming parents is only possible because of the love you have for your child and the strength you possess in making a selfless choice for the both of you. We will always be grateful to you and will love your child forever. Adoption became the natural choice when we learned we couldn’t have our own children. We know that this is the right path for us as a loving couple who believes family is the most important thing and cannot wait to start a family of our own. We are fortunate to be at a place in life where we have the resources, home, family, and community needed to provide a great home and life to our future child. We just know the right match will happen, and we can’t wait to meet our future child! We will love and support them so much!
Dear Birth Mother
Our Story
We met through friends on a group ski trip in a way that has always felt serendipitous and special. We were drawn to our unique combination of qualities. We are both very funny and love to laugh hysterically together. We both highly value honesty, sincerity and loyalty. We feel lucky to have fallen in love and married each other. We recently purchased our dream home in a beautiful community where we have land to grow vegetables, raise chickens and keep a fruit orchard. It’s a great community with great schools and ideal for raising our future child.

Meet Maria, by Maria
I grew up in North San Diego, California. I come from a big, loving and close family. I have always been responsible and hardworking. At the age of fifteen, I got my first job working in a retirement residence. During this time I also developed my love of dance and fitness, participating in my schools dance and aerobic fitness programs. I would describe myself as sensitive, caring, strong, funny, curious and determined. I always have a project I’m working on, or something I’m studying. As a sensitive, loyal and compassionate person, the most important thing for me in life is the happiness and fulfillment of my life and of those closest to me. If someone close to me is struggling, I will not feel settled until I have done everything I can to help them. I previously managed sales operations for a medical device company. This was the perfect career for me because I am very detail oriented and if something needs to get done, I’m very good at anticipating and addressing the smallest of details. I have a feeling these skills will be very useful when I’m a stay-at-home mom with our future child!
About Maria, by Brian
Maria is truly a special person that everyone loves spending time with and I feel blessed to call my wife. She was meant to be a mother and has an inherent loving, caring and thoughtful nature that all those who are around her can feel. Maria is very intuitive, driven, charismatic, hilarious, smart and family oriented. She is a great listener and deep thinker. When I met her I was blown away by her calming and confident presence. She loves rock music and dancing and cracks me up with her impressions of characters on TV. When we discuss having a family and the adoption process Maria tears up with joy and excitement! She will be a great mother.

Meet Brian, by Brian
I grew up in Lakewood, Colorado and have two brothers and a sister. Both my parents were teachers. During the holidays, the entire extended family would gather at my Grandparent’s house in the mountains of Estes Park, Colorado. I have fond childhood memories of feeding deer by hand in their backyard. Growing up, I excelled at school, played music and loved playing football and basketball. I also loved hiking, camping, skiing and the outdoors. I loved watching sports and am a fan of Denver sports teams to this day. I graduated from Colorado State University and worked in Colorado for three years before moving to California. Today, I am a Senior Partner at an investment firm where we invest in private companies and help them grow. The success I have had allows us to live a comfortable life and gives flexibility for the things I want to do outside of work. I can’t wait to love, support, teach, coach and laugh with our child.
About Brian, by Maria
Brian is a happy, wonderful, true, honest and good person. Brian is hardworking and dedicated. He is looked up to and respected by his friends and work colleagues. Brian is highly intelligent, wise and prudent. He considers things carefully when making a decision and is highly intuitive - he just knows what to do. He loves playing with my nieces and nephews and turns into a big kid himself when playing with children. My nieces and nephews love him and our friends’ children love him as well. He will make an excellent father. He is very committed to his family and will drop everything if his family needs his help. I often say he is the greatest guy in the world. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful husband.

Our Home & Community
We live in a ranch community in North San Diego. We live on a four acre property with beautiful sunset views, surrounded by nature. This is truly our dream home. We love the peaceful surroundings, birds chirping, and horses riding by on the nearby horse trail. There are many beautiful gardens on our property including a vegetable garden, an herb garden and fruit orchard. Brian loves the outdoor kitchen where he enjoys barbecuing while watching a game on TV. We are lucky to live in an area that feels like the country but is just a few minutes to the beach, cities and near many nice communities. We are grateful to have several wonderful neighbors on our street and a community with lots of kids and great schools.
Our Dog
We have a six year old Bichon Frise named Falco who is full of personality. He is very energetic and very communicative. He is very sweet and cuddly, but he is also a little boss. We adore him. He is a social butterfly who loves making new friends on his walks. He likes to be challenged with training and is very good at playing fetch. Maria loves taking care of him. He gets a full comb out and teeth brushing every morning leaving him fluffy and adorable. He is also great with children.
Our Loved Ones
We both come from loving families and both enjoy lots of family time. Maria has an older brother and sister and one younger brother. She is close with all of her siblings and they love having sibling outings and Friday group texts. Maria’s parents have been married for fifty-six years! We see Maria’s family very often, they love any excuse to get together and celebrate. Our gatherings always include lots of good food, games, music, conversation and cakes are mandatory for all gatherings - especially birthdays! Brian’s family primarily resides in Colorado. Brian has an older brother and sister and younger brother. We go home to Colorado often and visit, and they love coming out to California to spend time with us! Both of our families are so excited to welcome our future child into the family! We have a good group of friends - some live close by, some along the West Coast, and others in Colorado. We feel very lucky to also have friends that recently started their family through adoption and we all cannot wait for our children to get to know each other.
“We were so excited to hear Maria & Brian were starting the adoption process. We are the proud parents of an adopted daughter, who we love beyond words and has been a tremendous blessing for our family. We can’t wait for Maria & Brian to have a child of their own. They will be wonderful, loving parents!”
- Rachel and Armando
Notes on Our Families Diversity
We have a diverse family background, Brian is Norwegian and West European and Maria is Mexican. Family traditions include holiday meals like Norwegian Lutafisk (Cod preserved for a year and then pressed together for a few days before consumption – Ewww!) with Lefse (Similar to a tortilla but made with riced potatoes instead of flour – YUM!) for Christmas dinner, and tamales along with turkey for Thanksgiving. Family gatherings also include lots of traditional Mexican meals. Maria’s sister in law is Chinese so we get to celebrate Chinese New Year by making dumplings, or going out to a traditional Chinese restaurant.
Family Traditions
We look forward to participating in old family traditions and making new ones in our home! Recently, we have been to marching band concerts, school graduations, family BBQs, hikes, rock concerts, sporting events and all the family birthday and holiday celebrations! In addition to current family and friends, both our younger brothers and their wives are ready to start their families. There will be a strong network of family with young children.
Our Thoughts on Parenting
We will...
- Encourage their natural gifts and talents.
- Help build their confidence while also teaching them to be humble.
- Work hard on building trust and open communication.
- Always listen without judgment.
- Teach them how much they matter in this world.
In Closing
Thank you again, for taking the time to get to know us! There is so much more we would like to share with you and cannot wait to learn more about you as well. We hope to be given the opportunity to support you on this journey. We promise to live the rest of our lives loving your child and being the best parents that we can be. We will give your child every opportunity to live a fulfilling and happy life. And we will always have you to thank for creating our family.
