Greetings from sunny California! We are Rosanna & Michael. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for considering us as potential adoptive parents for your child. We are humbled by your courage and love. If we are lucky enough to be chosen by you, we promise to provide a safe, nurturing, and loving home for your child, full of wonder and magic. Thank you for getting to know us, and we look forward to getting to know you as well! Adoption has always been a part of our plan. We’ve dreamt of creating and expanding our family based on love and common good values. As we struggled with infertility, it was clear that adoption was taking the lead in our journey to becoming parents. Your courage gives us hope that we’ll have the chance to build the family we’ve always dreamed of. Our hearts are open and excited to welcome a child to our lives.
Dear Birth Mother
Our Story
We met through magic. No really, we met at a convention for Magicians, where we made the rest of the room *disappear* and were inseparable ever since. Sharing a love for comfort food, magic, and curiosity for adventure, we grew our life together. We never wanted our dates to end, so we coined the term “Superdate”. We’d often meet for a hike, then after end up at lunch bonding over hamburgers, only to find ourselves together at Disneyland that same evening to watch the fireworks. See? Superdate! We’ve kept our spontaneity and sense of adventure by taking trips a few times a year, often internationally as we love to experience different cultures and cuisines. Life together is truly magical.
Hobbies & Interests
- We love to eat! One of our favorite things to do is invite friends over for hot pot (a big soup).
- We enjoy taking walks around our lovely neighborhood, visiting botanical gardens, and traveling to see friends and family.
- Some of our bucket list travel destinations include Vietnam, Korea and Australia but we also plan to revisit Copenhagen (where we got engaged), London, Japan, and China.
- We are constantly bringing our nieces and nephews to amusement parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios.
- We also enjoy being outdoors, going for hikes and hanging out in the California sun (Rosanna likes to surf, and Michael likes to lounge!).
- Every Halloween we set up a stage on our friend’s porch. We put on a puppet show for the kids and give out candy as the puppets. People line up and fill the front lawn to watch!
We Love Adventure
Our days are filled with fun, and we love trying new things. Recently, we took a kimchi making class. We’ve taken pottery classes, cooking classes, been contestants on a game show, became members of a secret club called the Magic Castle, built our own garden, hosted a Taskmaster game night, and went deep into the world of tea and ramen making. We can’t wait to share our love and excitement for life with our future child. Whatever their interests are, we are excited to explore it with them!
About Rosanna
I grew up an artsy kid in Queens, New York with my two older brothers. I come from a big, loud, loving family and spoke Cantonese at home. Friends describe me as a kind, empathetic person, and a great listener. I’ve always been drawn to photography. I now work with photos for Television. It has been exciting and fun to work on TV shows! I work from home most days, so I get the best of both worlds (sweatpants some days and socializing in the office on the others!). On days off, I love trying new restaurants, creating pottery and playing board games with friends. I hope to instill in my future child a strong sense of self, the tools required to navigate life, and unwavering support and love. It’ll be a joy to have them get to know our family. We’ll have opportunities to visit them all over the world while getting to explore different cultures. I can’t wait to see them make up their own little songs, dances and quirky habits along the way.
Rosanna, by Michael
Rosanna is the most caring person I’ve ever met. She has endless curiosity, strength beyond measure, and a soft sweet heart. She is pure love, and her soul emanates joy and happiness. She’s that person who decorated everyone’s locker at school, and now their office at work for birthdays. She’s the best friend you could ever ask for. She’s there for you, she listens, and does everything in her power to help. Everyone who knows her loves her, and it’s easy to see why. She loves children and has a natural nurturing instinct. It’s something I’ve admired about her since we met. We’ve made special trips just to visit friends and family who’ve had babies (Ask us about “The Great Cross Country Baby Tour”!) Rosanna’s hobbies are endless. From surfing, to knitting, to foraging and farming, there’s nothing she wont try. It’s unbelievably admirable. I can’t wait for her to encourage our future child to try everything as well.

About Michael
While growing up in New York, I was encouraged to follow my passions and hobbies, which are music, movies, and technology. I played drums with anyone who would have me, made silly films with my friends, and always had to have the latest and greatest computer. My dad owned a store, and at a young age let me work with him which instilled in me a good work ethic and financial principles, something I plan to pass on to our future child. I studied Computer Science & Media in college while touring with a pop punk band on weekends, and then moved to Los Angeles for my career. I’m an Animated Film Editor, and spent over a decade at Disney Animation working on movies including Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Zootopia. It’s been an incredible dream come true to create films that make children smile and sing along. I can’t wait to share them with our future child someday. Outside of work, I love to continue to explore hobbies such as magic, tea, theme parks, music, cooking, and traveling.
Michael, by Rosanna
Michael wins for kindest human. He has taught me so much about patience, taking my time and enjoying the moment. He has a boyish excitement and enthusiasm for amusement parks and thrill rides. He is braver than I am with heights and roller coasters but always willing to hold my hand if I dare to face my fears. Michael is kindhearted, playful and a great listener, especially with children. When he interacts with them, he treats them as equals and shares their curiosity. This past Thanksgiving we were visiting our friends in Long Beach, and their daughter Bella wouldn’t leave his side. She gave him a tour of her room and asked him over and over to read her riddles. It was so sweet. He has mentioned that he wants to live life again through a child’s eye and becoming a dad has always been a dream of his. he brings a lot to the table and will make an amazing father. his warmth, silly jokes and laughter are contagious.

Our Home
We live in Los Angeles, California. Our home is just north of the Hollywood sign. It’s a melting pot of food, cultures, and activities. We can go skiing up in the mountains during the day, and surfing down at the beach for sunset that same night! Most days, we enjoy having a tea or latte in our breakfast nook while sharing our plans and thoughts for the day. We enjoy cuddling up on our sofa for popcorn and a movie. We have a big tea assortment, enough instruments to start a band with, and a hefty plant collection. Don’t forget our pet turtle named Yaki, who loves people and waves at everyone who walks by the tank. Rosanna is a master decorator, and always spruces up our home with seasonal decor. Our neighborhood is filled with fruit trees and we love collecting a harvest from neighbors on our daily walks. Michael makes a great fresh lemon honey tea during lemon season. We live across the street from a wonderful school that has an organic garden and a chicken coop! We love where we live. Sometimes it’s even worth braving the traffic to take a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and stop for clam chowder and see the sunset in Malibu.
Our Family
Our extended family is sprawling (and worldwide!) which makes gatherings fun & memorable events. We have an Aunt and Uncle here in Los Angeles, parents in New York, siblings and nieces and nephews in New Jersey & New Zealand (yep!), and cousins in Maui, Hawaii. Even with the distance, we all manage to get together multiple times a year, and sometimes meet up in destinations that are fun and new for everyone. Last year we gathered in Fiji! Having family nearby in California has also been comforting, and both our sets of parents have expressed interest in visiting more often or moving closer to us once we have a little one so they can spoil them as proud grandparents. Family gatherings with both our sides can feel different, as Rosanna’s parents and Grandma only speak Chinese, but despite the language barrier we love to gather together, and we’ve seen both sides share many commonalities! We’re loud, joyous, and fun. We plan to teach our future child Chinese so they can communicate with their grandparents, and enjoy both cultures and family life to the fullest.

Our Thoughts on Parenting
We believe in instilling good values, taking the best practices from both our upbringings. We want to teach our future child to be strong but know it’s okay to have weak moments. To have fears but conquer them anyway. To know they are loved beyond measure and have a strong support system. We believe in communicating our expectations and clarifying why, steering away from “because I said so” or “because we’re the adults”. We think open adoption is ultimately best for all parties and gives the child a good sense of self so that there is no confusion of their story (in which they, and you, are the hero) from the very beginning. We want to share tons of homemade meals together and try the spectrum of foods available all around the world. We want our future child to be open minded and open hearted, trying new things and learning about other’s cultures as much as their own. We promise to instill a sense of joy for the little things, empathy towards others, to laugh often, and to dance and sing freely.
In Closing
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. Our hearts are open. We know this decision is impossible and we can only imagine what you must be feeling. We hope we have eased some of your worries and that we can work together to give your child a strong loving home. Adoption is the beginning of a journey for us and we are looking forward to a lifetime of living and loving as a family.
